Manju and Saumya Lulla 2 women who own Ashtar

Welcome to the world of

Navy blue logo spelling Ashtar

Over a decade ago, Manju Lulla founded Ashtar. At the age of 20, her daughter Saumyaa Lulla joined the business full time after graduating from Istituto Marangoni. Since its very conception, a mother - daughter run business, Ashtar has been about bridging gaps — not only the generational gap but also cultural and historical ones.

In its approach as well as the intricately designed collections themselves,

Ashtar aims to capture and integrate the seamless intersections of tradition and modernity that have always co-existed in India.

— we bring together the rich cultural legacies from across India for a younger audience, bridging the gap between tradition and modernity.

Ashtar strives to keep these now-endangered artistic practices and rich cultural legacies alive by bringing them to the realm of today's modern world, in forms still relevant to the youth in the Indian and Middle Eastern markets through modern Indian and pret wear.

Follow our journey and be an #AshtarMuse!

Indian handloom traditions have thrived and evolved for centuries, passed down through generations like folklore. These traditions are intertwined with oral histories which can be found in stories from the Vedas and in poems inscribed on temples around India even today.

with love,

Manju & Saumyaa
